Model of the Month
Sarah Thomas
RTFOTO:
What agency are you listed with?
Not currently w/ an agency.
RTFOTO: What is your occupation?
I
manage the Design Review Committee at a residential development
currently under construction on the Big Island.
RTFOTO: What nationality are you?
Mixed
plate: French, German, English, Irish, Indian....Chinese (believe
it or not :)
RTFOTO: Where are you originally from?
Palo
Alto, CA
RTFOTO: Describe yourself in 3 words?
I am a
true Scorpio. Very direct, passionate and loyal (to a fault at
times)
RTFOTO: Who was or is your mentor?
Anyone
who is not afraid to push the envelope and think outside the box. I
really admire people who are unique and a bit eccentric as I've
always been somewhat reserved.
RTFOTO: What was your first paying job?
I had a
summer job on a boat. I was 15.
RTFOTO: What inspired you to become a model?
I
started to work locally and realized there was a real opportunity to
travel and make money.
RTFOTO: How would you describe your style in fashion?
It
constantly changes depending on where I am. I really love simple
lines and good quality. I don't really like trends and living in
Hawaii it's kind of difficult to get too crazy anyway.
RTFOTO: How many years have you been doing what you do?
Current
job for 3 years and I've just started to get back into modeling
again.
![]() RTFOTO: If you could do one thing different growing up, what would that be?
I think
I would have been a bit more athletic as it is sooooo hard to find
the discipline to work out as you get older.
RTFOTO: What drives you to continue doing what you do?
I have
a 5 year old who consistently reminds me how important it is to be
present and live in the moment.
RTFOTO: What do you like best about the modeling industry?
It
really is a great outlet for travel and growth and the money is not
half bad.
RTFOTO: What don't you like about the industry?
I think
that anything that places so much emphasis on your physical
attributes at such a young age can be damaging. It is also easy to
live a life of excess.
RTFOTO: If you weren't doing what you do today, what would you be doing?
I'd be
a farmer. He he just kidding I have no idea.
RTFOTO: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully content, happy and still passionate about life.
RTFOTO: What is a good day like for you?
A very
strong cup of coffee or two.
RTFOTO: What embarrassing moment have you had in your career?
I've
had so many embarrassing moments that it takes a lot to ruffle my
feathers.
RTFOTO: What would you say is the most difficult part of your job?
Creating a balance.
RTFOTO:
What makes you different from your peers?
I think
that I have a lot of life experience in comparison to a lot of
friends my age.
RTFOTO: If you could pick any city to live in other than the city you are currently in, what city would that be and why?
I
really enjoyed living in New York. I can't think of another city
that compares although I'd say San Francisco is a close 2nd.
RTFOTO: What advice can you give to those aspiring what you do?
Be
open to new experiences and not afraid to fail.
RTFOTO: What is your message to teens today?
Take
your time. Be a kid and enjoy your youth.
RTFOTO: If you had the power to change the world, what would you do?
I'd
fill the world with rainbows and butterflies. J/K It would be
great if we could all just get along.
RTFOTO: What was your experience working with Russell Tanoue?
He has
a kind, positive charismatic spirit and really helps you to feel
comfortable.
RTFOTO: Finally, tell me something about you I don't know about?
I am
kind of a big deal. Ha ha just kidding. I'd like to think I have a
good sense of humor.
